West Park are First Class!
West Park Primary School are set to be the first 'solar' school in Hartlepool.
Paul Hewitson, project co-ordinator of Hartlepower CIC asked listeners of Radio Hartlepool to vote in the 'M&S Community Energy' competition.
It was a nail-biting time as the local school was up against several across the country to be in with a chance of winning the funding of £40,000.
The pupils and parents used social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter to gain votes.
The school is already classed as a 'green flag eco school' and now winning this will ensure they can take it to the next level.

Use YOUR vote!
This Thursday is a very important day for Hartlepool people. As well as council elections, the MP for Hartlepool will be chosen by the people of the town.
We hosted a special two hour programme - we invited all prospective parliamentary candidates to give them a chance to explain why you should vote for them.
Thank you to all candidates who took part and to all listeners who contributed questions.
Training together, working together
Twelve apprentices who trained in welding are sticking together when it comes to finding work.
After completing a successful programme at Hartlepool Training and Employment Services, they were handpicked by local company, CPD BODIES of Stockton to commence full-time employment.
Brian Goodlad from Hartleppool Training and Employment Services said "It's a tremendous boost for young people when they see there are real jobs out there. Our apprenticeships are not fruitless programmes, there are endless results and this is the perfect example."

Your local station are proud to continue our support to a very worth cause in town, Hartlepool and District Hospice.
We have been patrons of the charity since our launch in 2008 and we recently went on a guided tour of the facility and were shown a recently opened day care centre and met the team who do so much hard work.
Radio Hartlepool will be working with the hospice by helping to promote future events and initiatives, both on-air and across social media.
Meanwhile if you are interested in becoming a patron, then give them a call on (01429) 855555 or visit www.hartlepoolhospice.co.uk
